Hidden Cat Box Furniture

Cat Litterbox concealers are a stylish and ingenious way to hide your cat’s unsightly litter box. Many of our cat furniture litter box hiders are quality pieces of handcrafted wood furniture, allowing the once-ugly cat litterbox to now be hidden away and blend nicely into your decor in a decorative enclosure. These cat litter box concealers also help to confine the litter mess, as well as the odor.

While most wood options for cat litter box furniture are made from pressboard, this is a solid pine box made of 3/4 inch thick boards. When it comes to you, it will be pre-built and ready to go. The finish they apply to the pine is both odor and moisture resistant. The back panel are two solid doors that open fully for easy access. While there’s no place to keep the scoop and litter on this one, it’s still a very handsome piece that will easily hide your cat box. The exterior dimensions are 22.5 inches long by 17.3 inches wide by 17.7 inches high; interior dimensions are 20.8 inches long by 15.7 inches wide by 16.1 inches tall. Again, the large Petmate Litter Pan should do the job here.

There is only one kitty litter that I know of and which I have used that keeps the urine smell down (at least in our apartment). It is more expensive, but the trade-off to us is worth it. It is Fresh Step Crystals Premium Cat Litter, and it advertises that it locks in odors 5 times better than the leading regular litter. The crystals are blue and white, and they are odorless. When the cat urinates, the crystals absorb both the smell and the moisture. Scoop the solids out every day. You will also be able to see where the cat urinated, because those crystals turn color from blue and white to green. At that point, I mix the green crystals thoroughly and evenly so that ALL the moisture is absorbed. You do not have to scoop the green crystals out, because they will mix with the other crystals allowing for even absorbency and odor control. It also lasts longer because you are removing less litter than the traditional clumping kind. Depending on the number of cats that use it will determine how often it needs to be changed, but we have two cats and we change it once every three weeks. The only two downsides for us is the expense is higher, and if you don't have a rug or something around the box that catches stray litter, the crystals can feel a bit like rough sand underfoot on a tile floor.

Doggy doors are so passé. Cat holes are super chic because they allow your pet to do her stuff behind any closed door of your choosing. The junk closet that somehow amasses half-used rolls of wrapping paper and plastic bags you’ll never use again can now double as a spot for your cat’s litter box. According to the product page, the DIY installation takes less than an hour, and the interior pet hole gives your kitty some privacy. It even comes with a removable brush to groom your cat every time she goes in and out. Buy yours on Amazon.

Loved this litter box solution overall, good selection of colors and it's great that you can have the opening on either side. I think it's the best solution out there! My only complaints/improvement suggestions: 1) I wish it were slightly taller. With the cat box inside it, my cat has to crouch down a little to use it. 2) The hinge for the lid doesn't fully extend/open, so you have to slide the litter pan out at a slight angle. If your litter pan is really shallow that might result in dumping the contents all over the inside of the cabinet. Neither of those is a show-stopper, just less than ideal.
